In Denial...

How can it be Christmas in two weeks?!
Really? I swear it's still September. How can it be December already?

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind. Lots of social time since I realized that if I dawdle too much at home, I have too much time to think, can't concentrate on my projects (stitching/home) and then waste too much time on the computer and realize there is no one I want to even date online. Ugh! Luckily, I met this really fun girl and so I've been introduced to her friends and have been just having a blast in the city. It has been so much fun! Although, I do have to say...I am whooped and some days, I just want to crawl under my desk at work to take a nap. I am that tired.

I do have to admit that I am not really into the holiday spirit this year. I don't feel low...I just feel too busy to take in the holidays and am a little sad I am familyless this year since my folks are still traveling and I just couldn't bring myself to pay the high fare to visit my sister. So I anticipate the last two weeks of the year being quiet and maybe, just maybe, I can catch up on some stitching and home projects. I managed to drag out my Christmas decorations and realized that I don't have that many stitched Christmas items so I think I may need to remedy that this coming year. No tree this year...so the stitched ornies will stay packed up until next year.

Since social time is high and stitching time is low, I am still working on Pumpkins...if you can imagine that. I am still determined to finish it before I start stitching Christmas. I signed up for IHSW this weekend but am not sure I will succeed in the progress department. If I go to stitch group; maybe. If I go to SantaCon; probably not!

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful holiday season. I'll be back before Christmas for sure!

Until next time...

So many people are saying the same this year, Christmas has come rushing towards us. I'm not having a tree this year either Valerie so that makes two of us.

So if you go to Santacon, do you dress up as Santa? What fun! :D Sounds like you're busy busy, but that's a good busy. I'm not feeling Christmas-y either. Hopefully I will soon. Don't even have the tree up -- doesn't help that the kids aren't home. Enjoy the quiet time when it comes!

I would definitely go to SantaCon. You can always stitch another weekend. SantaCon sounds so campy and fun.

Lovely to see a post from you Valerie! I too can't believe it's Dec 13th. Luckily my shopping is pretty much done but I haven't written a single xmas card, oops.
Have a fantastic weekend, whatever you decide to do. It's so cold here that snuggling up on the sofa with some stitching sounds like the best option to me, but that's not very sociable I guess! We took our kids to Winter Wonderland last weekend and my hands and feet were so cold I felt like bursting into tears! Some parent I am! Lol.

I know what you mean about not feeling like Christmas, I keep thinking it is still November.
I am getting no stitching done either, too much socailizing and trying to get the holiday stuff done. And then there is the job. Ugh, I am wicked tired.
Like you, I am hoping that things will slow down a little betwen Xmas and the new year.
I hope that you get to enjoy the holiday with some friends. I think airfare is really high right now.
hugs!

I feel the same way, Valerie--I am, in no way, ready for Christmas!! Just way too much went on in November and early December and I haven't done a thing other than finish my monthly ornaments.

So glad you're enjoying socializing, but sorry your are far from your family this year. That has to be tough. I always miss my parents this month, too--we haven't spent Christmas with them in at least a dozen years :(

Sure hope you get some down time and manage to stitch a bit during the holidays :)

Sounds like there are many of us in the same boat with not being ready for Christmas.
Sounds like you have been busy ~ hopefully you will get that down time and enjoy it!

I am happy that you are out and about enjoying the city, hey one thing about not decorating you don't have to take everything down after the New year :). we ended up getting our stuff delivered on Wednesday and I decided to put up the tree last night that is all I did. Hopefully now I can take some time to stitch now that I have all my stash.
hopefully we can chat some time soon. Miss you girl!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

I don't always get a tree up every year. And you know what? It's not big whoop. There is always next year. (And that will come around faster than seems possible, yes?)
You're having fun and living life so that can't be a bad thing.

I'm trying hard to get into Christmas this year, but it seems to have rushed up on me and I'm annoyed with myself for not having done m/any of the Christmas stitching and quilting things that I'd planned. Typical!

I'm glad you've met a fun friend!

It is two days before Christmas - half my decorations are just lying around the house. Presents only half wrapped - 21 people coming for Christmas dinner and I have a bad back, a broken dishwasher and it is 102 degrees today and I am so hot and tired that I want to cancel everything! So, I know how you feel!

hugs, Kaye

I haven't been much into the holiday spirit this year either. I did manage to set up a tiny little tree. (But that's only because I took it to my new job and then brought it home the other day)

Hope you have a good holiday!
