Quick Fly By

Just a quick post today to show my progress on the Shepherd's Bush stocking. It's really coming along!
This is the first time I've used 18 count linen and perle cotton. It kind of feels like I am pulling yarn through burlap. The "x's" are huge! It's a fun stitch though. I've been jumping around a little because filling in the dress is a little tedious. I will work on it through tomorrow and then have a new start on NYE. Well, at least that's the plan!

Yesterday was one of those lazy days where you wake up early but still lounge around in bed for hours afterwards. You know, complete with tv remotes, laptop, a book and the phone nearby. When I finally felt a surge of energy, it was too late to run my errands since I had to meet up with some friends for afternoon tea, english style. It was nice to see each other, catch up and stroll around my old neighborhood of 10+ years ago. Some things really don't change that much! All the important things were still around.

I'm off to get ready for another urban adventure. I'll tell you all about it in the next post!

Until next time...

Beautiful progress. The only benefit to 18ct is that you can practically do it in the dark.

Your stocking is lovely! I hate the pearle cotton and 18ct...don't think I'll be doing any of those SB stockings, lol!!!

Nice progress Valerie. I've had plans for more years than I care to admit too of doing SB stockings for my family. Maybe one day!!! Yours is looking lovely and yes, using the 18ct and perle cotton feels very different!

Stitching on that fabric is always a jolt when you've worked on linen, etc. I think it's beautiful!

Your SB stocking is looking so pretty! I have a hard time imagining stitching on that fabric, I have to say. lol! But it sure is worth the effort! Glad you're having fun visiting with friends and all!

Sadie's stocking is coming along nicely. One of these days I will get around to doing one of them for myself. Remember I said that about Mirabilia's letter C? Yep, still not even started. LOL!

Happy New Year Val!

Hi Valerie, I emailed you just before Christmas but am wondering if you don't use your fcdweller/yahoo address any more? Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for the Christmas card and wish you all the best for 2012 :)

These stockings have the prettiest colors! Looks like you're making great progress, Valerie. I can't imagine stitching on a large count fabric like that--you must be using a lot of thread!

I love lazy days like that--it's nice to spoil yourself now and then. Enjoy your urban adventure :) And best wishes for a most happy new year.
