More on Jane

Hello dear friends...

It's been about a week since I last posted so I think it's time for an update! Nothing too exciting in my little neck of the woods. I am trying to spend a little more time at home and try to tackle projects. I wasn't entirely productive this past week since I had dinner plans twice. Then I made impromptu plans with a dear friend I hadn't seen in two or three weeks since I was sick so it was time to catch up with him and see what was new. Then I had brunch plans with another dear friend and next thing I know, half the weekend is over! And then I decided I wanted to make a one-pot meal for the week. I don't really like to cook but I came across a recipe for curry shrimp chowder so I made it! It came out yummy although I think it needs something else. I don't know what even though I used 2x the amount of curry powder the recipe called for. I'm much better and intuitive about baking! Cooking...and cleaning up after takes time. Now I remember why I'm not that fond of it! :) And then I just caught up with shows, did laundry, housesat and stitched some on Jane. Oh and I finally put away Christmas. Only took 35 days past Christmas for me to do it. I am so behind in all aspects of life...not just stitching. But I vow to catch up sooner rather than later!

Here's Jane!

I stitch by color...does anyone else do that? I think most people stitch by motif so I have some incomplete motifs. I really enjoyed working with the medium green in this section despite having stitched with that forest green for months on the pine border. Once I finish this top third, I will whip it off the rods and iron the heck out of that crease. It's driving me nuts but laziness prevails when I think about ironing and then having to put it back on the rods. No fun...so I keep stitching.

As I stitch, I keep thinking about things I want to stitch. At the top of the list are BOAF A Very Fine Sampler, some ornies and Letters to Santa. I still haven't sorted a travel project so Jane has gotten all my attention. A couple more nights and she will be abandoned for social time. I have two happy hours, a possible scavenger hunt, Superbowl viewing (Go NINERS!!) and a movie night. Huh...how did that happen?! At least next week and weekend is looking pretty quiet...so far.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Until next time...

Jane is so pretty. She is definitely in my to-stitch pile. I'm just waiting for the rest of the floss to arrive.

As to stitch by colour? That's a new one! I've never doe that!

Enjoy your week!

Jane is looking great. Ummm nope I don't stitch by color I'm happy to just get a stitch in without frogging Haha.

I sure wish I was back in SF for the game on Sunday. What a madhouse it will be :) I am hoping for a win for the 49 er's cause I REALLY REALLY dislike the RAVENS!!!!

Have fun on Sunday and look forward to updates of your fun filled weekend :)

I'm really enjoying watching this Jane unfold!! I've never done the stitch by one colour except with my HAED before but I really like the effect it has on yours!!

truly looking so lovely x

This is growing beautifully. I stitch by motif usually, and I would have had to iron out the crease lol

Jane is so pretty! Nice progress. I usually try to stitch by motif but jump from one to another if I am confident in my counting. I had a friend, God rest her soul, that used to stitch by color. She would do these big L&L and Mirabilia pieces and count all over the linen to use the color before moving onto the next color.

Gorgeous Jane progress. I never stitch the whole border. I want to start the fun stuff and use some different colors.
It sounds like you have a fun week ahead!Enjoy!

It's looking gorgeous! It may be hard to believe but I have only ever stitched one sampler prior to the one I am working on & that was 26 years ago! I stitched by colour. I am stitching by colour now too but page at a time if that mAkes sense.
You have a very busy week coming up! I hope the happy hours don't end up as hangovers ;) lol have a great time & I look forward to finding out how it went.

Jane is coming along! I actually stitch by colour as well. I figure might as well get most of that colour done and over with first haha.

Glad to hear you're feeling better!

Hi Valerie! You sound happy and busy! Lovely stitching on Jane; she is so pretty. Everytime I see her I am reminded why everyone loves her so!

Ok about that Super Bowl ... Pittsburghers are caught between the proverbial rock and hard place on who to cheer for ... the Ravens or the 'Niners. Here in the 'Burgh we hate, hate, hate (yes it's that ugly!) the Ravens. However, should the 'Niners win, they will be tied with the Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins and we are reluctant to share our perch! Silly football! Hope it's a good game (with some fun commercials!)

Creases in fabric drive me nuts, some of them are so hard to iron out. I'm too much of a butterfly to stitch by colour - I need constant change to keep me going.

Your social life sounds fabulous Valerie...I'm going to live it vicariously through you! ;0)
Snap - I stitch by colour too! I didn't realise it was so unusual?! I think that's why my BAP 'Santa's List' is driving me crackers!

I envy your social life! Those happy hours sound good. ;O)

It depends on the design if I stitch by color or motif. I am always curious of others' stitching habits too. Jane is looking gorgeous!

Sounds like you've found a great blend of social and home activities, Valerie! The progress on your sampler is wonderful... Never knew anyone who stitched by color! I'd be too afraid of miscounting, myself, but it seems to work great for you :)

Will definitely be rooting for your team--we HATE the Ravens here in Pittsburgh :) Hope they win!!

Looks like we are different in several ways. I stitch from top right to bottom left (when I can) and do each color as it comes up.

Also .......go Ravens. ;-)

Very nice progress on the sampler!

great progress on your piece. In that case I would go motif by motif so I could say parts are done.

Ooo, you've made good progress on Jane this week! I'm more of a 'finish one area then move on to the next' type stitcher when I'm doing a large piece. I'm too afraid of miscounting to move around much. Been BURNED BAD with that, you know?
Have a great weekend!!!!!!! :)

I do tend to stitch by colour except when there's motifs.
