Some may already know I am a completely indecisive person. Especially when left to my own devices trying to select fabric online! I've been in a stashing mood lately and am winding down. I think I'm just going to buy a couple more hand-dyeds to kit up a couple more Mirabilias and call it a day...until my birthday that is. I did decide on a cut of fabric from Country Stitch for Stargazer and while looking around, I saw some that may work for Waiting for Ships. I'm looking for something water-like...so blue-ish/green-ish and not too bright. Why Nora recommends some drab olive/taupe color, I'll never understand. Mermaids have no business on a land color fabric! Here is what WFS looks like. Strangely, this is the only mermaid Mirabilia I have.
Now the choices:
So all the colors are pretty similar with the exception of Stormy Seas. I don't think the Polstitches would be a good fit what with the yellow but I think it's a beautiful hand-dyed!! I've opened up a poll in the sidebar. Please vote and help me decide! If you don't think any are a good option, please comment and tell me so. If you have recommendations other than those listed, don't be shy either. I think I'll leave the poll up through the weekend.
So...what do you think?
Until next time...

I feel compelled to speak for Stormy Seas. That's what I used for my Med Mermaid: http://needleworker.net/thumbnails.php?album=41
I love love love this fabric. Granted MedMer does have a touch of gold/yellow from the amphora she's holding. But! Most Mira's have some sort of gold from a Krenik. Does WFS have any gold? Also think of the yellow/gold as sunlight in the water. It works.
My second choice is Taupo. I think the darkness of Lagoon is too much, and have the same complaint about Wintergreen.
I acutally like the Stormy Seas option as well. I don't think you will have much of an issue with the yellow unless it turns out rather garish IRL. (You just never know when looking online!)
I vote Taupo. I like the extra bit of green in it!
I saw stormy seas from Missy Ann and I fell in love with it so I voted for that one ;-)
I was going to go for the Stormy Seas, but my conservative side won out and I voted for Taupo. :D
I like the Taupo but I am teeny bit worried about all the blue in the mermaid. I am afraid you may loose her a bit on the bluish linen? Can't wait to see which linen you decide on.
I think that is the hardest part of stitching for me deciding which fabric looks best..
My vote is for the Stormy Seas. I just looked at MissyAnn's and it looks great on the Stormy Seas.
Can't wait to see what you decide on.
I think the stormy sea looks sun is trying to peek down into the blue seas.. I voted for that one !!!
Another vote for Stormy Seas here. The yellow complements the greens and blues of the piece and I like Missy Ann's comment about sunlight. I think the others will blend in with the thread colours too much. Mr V, who is sitting next to me, agrees too!
I love the idea of voting! What fun!
Can't wait to see what you select.
I like the linen Taupo. I used a very similar piece on my Queen Mermaid and it came out beautifully. There is a picture in my webshots that you can link through my blog. If I remember right, I did it in 2008 as a gift for my sister. It was hard to part with!
I'm a indecisive person myself, too!!!!!! And all these fabrics are soooo beautiful~~~
Hummm.... I think I like both Taupo and stormy seas a little bit more.... It is so hard to decide!!!
What a beautiful design!
I vote for Country Stitch Taupo.
Goodluck!
Well i went for the Country Stitch Lagoon but appear to be the only one lol. I just love the vibrancy of the fabric. x
I voted for stormy seas, polstitches fabrics are gorgeous and the name just speaks mermaid too.
I'm sure whichever one you choose it will look wonderful
I used Country Stitch's "Glacier" for my Waiting for Ships mermaid!
I'm never any good at picking out fabric colors but I did vote :o) It's hard to tell without knowing the colors Nora chose but I liked Lagoon myself.
I like the Stormy Seas too. It reminds me of sun dappled water.
I vote Taupo, too. Love it!
I like the Luguna one!
