Holy Cow!

It's hot here! Someone please send in the fog cuz I am dying! I know the rest of the US has been in a heatwave for months and I've been pretty much spared from any extreme weather the entire summer but between today and yesterday, I am really wishing my building was air conditioned!

Because of the heat, I'm not feeling the most talkative. So I'm going to try and keep this short. Ha! I haven't progressed to my next project because I ran into another bout of network connectivity issues. Get this...that AT&T guy...didn't hook up my router correctly and I was basically stealing wireless from my neighbor and thinking everything was hunky dory. Until I realized I didn't have the Tivo hooked up to my router since it had been reset and everything crashed! I thought it was the Tivo and after going through a few scenarios of plugging things into the wrong places, I figured out that the repair guy plugged the ethernet into the wrong whatchamacallit. What would have taken any reasonably tech-savvy person 5 minutes to figure out only took me like 3 days. Annoying! But...I figured it out on my own so go me!

I can't start new things when my head is spinning in frustration to begin with so Simple Joys has gotten more attention. Here's my latest progress pic.
There has been certain frustrations with Simple Joys. First was the Bean Sprout being sickly (remember?), then my Tiny Vine is kind of light but I went with it anyways and then my Raspberry was sickly too! Only 6 colors in this design and I had issues with half of them! Every skein of Raspberry I came across had a little too much brown in it which made the flowers look like they were burnt by the sun...definitely not happy flowers. I didn't have anything to substitute with so I stopped by the local shop and picked up GAST Schoolhouse Red for the flowers which I think is more magenta than red but maybe that's just me. I like it much better! I'm almost done with the center and then just have the border to do. I am hoping I have enough Bean Sprout to get me through the border...

Then there's my TUSAL update. My jar is getting quite full! The greens and pinks at the top are from Simple Joys.
I missed the New Moon but at least I made the Full Moon....it's a beautiful one out there tonight.

That's about it for me tonight...hope everyone had a nice weekend and is staying cool!

Until next time...

I was just wondering about your Raspberry flowers cause they looked more vibrant then mine!!! I like your choice of substitute~~~ They do look more lively~

We're about at the same point right now. I think I only have a little bit more then one skein of bean sprout left for the borders..... I really hope this will be enough... fingers crossed!!

Looking good Valerie! Mine is on hiatus this week whilst I finish up another project, but should be getting some more TLC next week. Are you going to add the cream lines to the windows or leave them as is?

Simple Joys looks great! And computer issues? Don't even get me started. LOL.

Looks wonderful so far Valerie, love your changes! Such a great design too :-)

Wow, your repair dude sounds awful...amazing that folks like that can keep their job....esp. in this economy!

I would probably die without a/c! It was 109 here on Monday and that's not including the heat/humidity index! We're heading into a "cool front" now though...mid 90's. It'll be sheer heaven, lol! I may even bake!

Simple Joys is coming along beautifully. I love your substitutions you are making as they sound more vibrant than what was originally suppose to have been stitched.

Sounded like those in the bay area were setting some high temps, which I am sure were unbearable since many are without AC. I am looking for the cool down that is suppose to hit tomorrow. Enough of summer :)

Take care!

I think it looks great so far Val. And definitely GO you for figuring out the computer problems. I hate any kind of problem with a computer.

And I hope it cools down soon. My sister told me the weather in PVE was the same way and had been overcast and cool all summer. It wasn't until she left here that your weather started to break!

I'll send you over some of our persistant rain, its getting to be a joke here, it's supposed to be summer and i've got a woolly cardigan on today!!

I think you've sent us your cooler weather, Valerie and I truly thank you!! Finally, we have some lovely summer weather in the mid-70s...

Your Simple Joys is just wonderful--I definitely have to stitch that one myself. Your colors look perfect :)

I love the way the piece is coming out. Colors seem great on my monitor. I just had a bad bit with a color called 'olive green' that was really more akin to baby poo. I really think someone was off their rocker when they named it. lol

Valerie, I can understand how you feel about the heat! At a certain point we just melt!

Simple Joys is lovely. It is frustrating when you have to switch colours around I find. I am having colour challenges too!

I recognize that pincushion in your photo. One day I am going to get me one of those!

Simple joys is such a lovely chart and yours looks great despite the sickly colours of your floss. Gotta love dye lots!

I love the pin cushion beside your TUSAL jar. It's super cute.

No a/c? Ugh! I hope you cool down soon.

All I can say is that I'm useless with cables and I'm glad you worked it out.

I'm off to see if my threads for Simple Joy are sickly too! I must say that I really love how yours is turning out!

LOL! Now you're getting a taste of what this whole summer has been like ;o)

Simple Joys is looking very lovely! I hear your frustration about the hand-dyed threads though. It's even harder when you have to mail order and can't pick out the skein yourself :o(

I have that same pincushion!
