Happy December!

Wow, December 1st. How'd that happen? I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner and the year will soon come to a close. As much as I'm not ready to deal with the holidays.at.all...I am ready to put the year behind me. The first 6 months were terrible and the remainder of the year has been spent trying to get over the drama, while meeting new people and getting on with my life. It has not been easy. All the things I had hoped to do in 2010 will shift into 2011 and I'm hoping I can dig up some positive outlook from somewhere.

I don't have much to show in the form of photos. At least not today. I finally managed to stitch and finish my exchange ornament...2 days late. I need to get better about finishing. The stitching is easy...the finishing stumps me sometimes. I have 2 other ornaments that I need to finish via the sewing machine. This might get interesting...I haven't turned on the machine in a good 7 months or so. I hope I don't sew my fingers together! After that, I have one more ornie to stitch and finish and I can get back to Mary Wigham and WMHB. Both haven't seen the light of day in a while!

Did everyone have a nice Thanksgiving holiday? Mine was nice and relaxing. I spent time with my sister, BIL and the kids. I am now the little one. The kids have grown so much; it's amazing. They now tower over their auntie! We had a nice turkey dinner that I ate in my pajamas and us girls (sister, neice and I) went to watch Harry Potter. Fantastic! I also met with new blog friends in the DFW area. Michelle and Natalie were kind enough to meet me at a local coffee shop and we had fun talking and talking. We talked so much, we didn't even pull out our projects! Thanks for taking the time ladies! It was great meeting you both!

I went to a wedding and wore a fancy dress and met new friends and bumped into old acquaintences. That was nice. It went from being 70+ degrees down to being 40 degrees while I was there and I think I almost became a human popsicle because I was freezing! As much as I had a nice time, I am happy to sleep in my own bed, wear my flannel jammies, shuffle about in my slippers and have full control of the heater. I think anyone else would be sweltering in my apartment but I can't manage to get warm enough...and it's not even truly winter. This is going to be one cold season!

No more traveling for a bit so I have the feeling that I will be getting a lot of stitching in. Especially after coming to the conclusion that online dating is 5000 times worse now than it was 3 years ago, that I haven't been on a date since the breakup...unless you count Mr. Octopus and I didn't even realize I was on a date then and that I haven't come across one single guy that I *do* want to date. Not one. So I've resigned myself to be one of those crazy spinsters with cats. I just need a kittie. But I have to clean first...because there is way too much "string" and fabric and other wonderful things lying around that a kitty would love and would cause me to have a fit if a kitty got into it.

One more month, clean slate, new outlook. Can't wait!

Next post, I'll tell you a story about a certain Charlie Brown Christmas. Hope you're all having a great week!

Until next time...

Glad you had a good Thanksgiving :) What fun to meet up with Michelle and Natalie! Don't worry about the dating, things tend to fall into place when you least expect them to. Here's to a better year for you in 2011!

Sounds like you have been having a ball dear! Much better than staying home with sick kids and husbands that are never there. Can't wait to see what you get up to stitch wise. xx

A lady after my own heart...I love flannel pjs and I have the heating cranked up on full too!! Looking forward to seeing all of your future stitching. I was just thinking to myself that I'd better start Christmas ornie stitching in May next year as my needles are on fire trying to get gifts stitched in time for Christmas this year...ooops!

Sounds like you've been having fun, but don't get disheartened with the dating. All things fall into place. Enjoy your time now that you don't have to cater to someone because when Mr. Right shows up, you life won't be your own!

Sounds like you really enjoyed your Thanksgiving, Valerie. It is really strange when the youngsters start being taller than the adults. I am the shortest person in my family, including all the kids! Very odd feeling...

Hope 2011 brings you some unexpected joys :)

Things always happen when you don't expect it. You will meet a great guy when the time is right. Maybe you still need some alone time. I have 4 cats and they leave my stitching stuff alone. Only one of the cats bothers me when I am stitching. Maybe you do need a kitten to keep you company. I am acquiring my son's kitten since he had to move out of his apartment and moving into a new one.

Had so so much fun meeting up with you - and dang, we didn't even look at projects did we??? Here's hoping for a better 2011!! But good for you making some progress on your stitching before the end of the year - I need to get going on my exchange piece. Ack!

The craptacular year under which every stone we unturned lay another gigantic turd? That was last year for us. I get it. Not in the same way as you, but I get it! I even did a post about it on my other blog...maybe I will post it again just for you! It was funny. :)

I did have such a wonderful time visiting with you both. Made my month for sure!

Well, here's to flannel jammies and kitties and personal thermostats and having a whole bed to yourself! Life is good, even when it's not. xo

PJ & T...sounds like a wonderful combination! 11/12ths of 2010 over and a new year is ahead. I can only see good things for you! You have a good heart and deserve the very best and I know that he is out there!
MW is looking to come out of hibernation here too, I might have to do that rotation thing what some bloggers talk about in order to work her in; but I just got back from NiaH today with the last of the Monthly Sampler seriew from LHN. Now I have to figure out when to get that going. Ugh, why do I keep finding all these BAP?
Well, my friend we need to make time for a stitching gtg again!
Take care!

Sounds like you had a nice Thanksgiving.

The only thing better than a kitty is.......TWO KITTIES! lol

Please get yourself a kitty so I can welcome you to the Crazy Cat Lady club! And Shelleen is right, don't worry about the floss and stuff. My cat doesn't touch my stitching either. She actually sits on my lap with floss draped over her head snoozing away or staring into space. Also, cats keep you warm!

At least you had someone to see "Harry Potter" with. My youngest is too scared and my other two refuse to be fooled again after I dragged them to the last one by saying we were going to Chinese buffet (we did, it was just sort of 3 hours later).

Isn't is strange when the kids start getting taller than you? My 10 year old is almost there!!

Here's wishing you a great end to 2010 and a great start to 2011!

Valerie, hang in there.... 2011 will be better and don't give up on finding Mr. Right. There is always a time for everything. Glad you enjoyed Thanksgiving. I look forward to more time stitching in 2011 also !!

Traveling is loads of fun but often tiring. It always reminds me that "there's no place like home".

Flannels PJs and a kitty sound great. Life has a way of making dreams come true at the oddest moments. Maybe your future boyfriend is a vet? Go get the kitty!!!

I've admired your determination these past 6 months. We have a lot we can learn from you!
